When I started My Sugar Free Journey, I was hovering somewhere around 400 lbs and desperate to lose weight.
My blood pressure would sit around 200 over 150 and would spike as high as 237 over 160.
I was in bad shape.
Through a series of fortuitous events, I stumbled across Dr. Lustig’s fantastic video detailing how it was sugar that was the culprit behind my weight.
I decided right then and there that I was done eating sugar and started My Sugar Free Journey as a way to hold myself accountable and put everything I was learning in one place.
Since then, I have read dozens of books on diet and learned that a healthy diet isn’t just about what you take out of it (sugar, carbs, and starches) but also what you include.
I now know that in order to lose the weight I needed to lose, I also had to make sure that the majority of my diet was fat. This has put me firmly in the LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) or ketogenic diet camp and I have enjoyed about a 2-4 lb weight loss every week and am now more than 200 lbs lighter and am well on my way to a healthy weight.
